The Many Seasons of Life

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

As each of us travel along the paths of our lives we are confronted with the many seasons spoken of in the book of Ecclesiastes. Joy, pain, loss, gain…no mater what time or season you may find yourself in or experiencing right now one thing is certain; God, the Father is still on His throne!

At some of the lowest points in our lives, when we have experienced pain, sickness, suffering or the loss of a loved one, I always hear the question asked: “Why is God allowing this to happen?”

I too have asked that question at times. The truthful answer is that many times only God knows why. It may sometimes seem unfair to be kept in the dark about the events that take place throughout our lives, or to not have the answers to certain questions. But that is where we must exercise our faith and trust in Almighty God, believing in our hearts that He indeed loves us as His children and that it is all a part of His design. We must remain confident and believe that He is firmly in control of not only the many seasons of our lives, but of all things.
